SANTA BARBARA (Santa Ynez Valley) - May 7th 200 names will be drawn on Tuesday, March 1st for the second chance drawing. We will close registration for the second chance drawing at 9:00am PST on Tuesday! You may only sign up once and be sure to tell your friends to register here if you have not already done so. If you are selected you will receive an email and invitation to register on a secured registration site! This year we'll be helping the Danish-founded town of Solvang celebrate its 100th birthday on May 7th. Check the website for more details and to register for additional events. www.runsantaynez.com

VIRGINIA WINE (Loudoun Co.) - June 4th The second chance drawing will take place on March 8th! You must be signed up for the wait list to be considered for the drawing. The list closes on March 8th at Noon EST. One sign up per person. If you don't make the lottery be sure to check out our Charities page for information on how you can enter the race through one of our charity partners, including our national charity partner, CCFA Team Challenge. NAPA-TO-SONOMA July 17th Make sure you and your friends have signed up for the second chance list! The drawing will be held on Tuesday, March 15th. (signup here). You can ensure yourself an entry into the race by joining CCFA's Team Challenge program which includes training, and an expenses paid trip to the event. OREGON (Willamette Valley) - September 4th Registration for the second annual Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon is open! SECOND CHANCE DRAWING RULES Names are drawn randomly by computer from the list of registered names. You may only register once, failure to comply will result in your name being extracted from the list. A weight number is assigned to each registrant depending upon when you signed up. The earlier you signed up, the better your chances. Odds will be determined by the number of second chance opportunities available for each race, how many people register, and when you signed up. If you are selected in the second chance drawing you will receive an invitation to register on a secure registration page. If you want to run with a friend or family member in the race, or as a 2-person relay team in the Santa Barbara event, they must also be signed up on the list. No exceptions! If you are selected and wish to include your family member or friend, email us immediately at raceinfo@destinationraces.com to request an invitation for them to register. Include their full name so we can confirm they are signed up on the list. Once we confirm they are on the second chance list we will also provide them an invitation to register on a secure registration site. Second chance winners will have up to 14 days to register online before their selection is void. Anyone who registers using someone else's code will have their registration canceled immediately and will NOT receive a refund. Further registration details will be provided via email if you are selected.

1st Place Finish at Running USA Conference! Destination Races recently returned from the 2011 Running USA Conference in San Antonio, Texas. A record number of the industry's top executives, including event directors, manufacturers, suppliers, governing bodies, and sponsors met for three days to discuss various topics. We came away with lots of great information and new ideas that we are excited about incorporating into our race series. A new session and competition was introduced this year called the “Perfect Pitch” in which six semi-finalists were selected to make a sponsorship presentation to the conference and a panel of marketing executives. Three finalists were invited to come back the following day to answer questions from the panel and be evaluated and voted on by the conference attendees. And the winner is.....Destination Races and the Wine Country Half Marathon Series!
