Destination Races partners with a variety of national, regional and local charity and non-profit organizations. Each year, collectively these organizations raise approximately six million dollars in support of their causes through the Wine Country Half Marathon series. By providing volunteer support at events, Destination Races is able to further support these organizations.

Foodbank Santa Barbara County

We are ending hunger and transforming the health of Santa Barbara County through good nutrition. We serve the community as a leader and expert in improving the nutritional health of our county through increased food security.

In 2011, 102,000 unduplicated individuals were served by Foodbank member agencies. The Foodbank distributes food to over 290 social service programs and agencies, churches and community groups from Carpinteria to Santa Maria.

During 2011, the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County distributed 11 million pounds of food from two warehouse locations in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria. The surplus and donated food comes from many sources; over 500 contributors donated food and other commodities during 2011, in addition to the thousands of pounds of food collected through local food drives.

The mission of the Foodbank is to provide nourishment to those in need by acquiring and distributing safe nutritious foods via local agencies and providing education to solve hunger and nutrition problems in Santa Barbara County.

American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane society to be established in North America. The organization was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence with programs that extend the mission, boasting more than 1 million supporters across the country.
Our organization provides local and national leadership in three key areas: caring for pet parents and pets, providing positive outcomes for at-risk animals and serving victims of animal cruelty. ASPCA manages a national training and fundraising program that includes entry into the Wine Country Half Marathon.

Santa Ynez Valley Union High School students, staff and its boosters are the primary provider of event volunteers. They receive $2 from each race entry plus additional contributions per each volunteer provided. To sign as a volunteer please email Jennifer Rasmussen at jrasmussen@syvuhsd.org.

Chances for Children

Chances for Children is committed to improving quality of life by supporting programs that provide access to sports, physical education, and character education for youth. We provide fitness training, nutritional programs and educational services to students at schools throughout Arizona.

Chances for Children was founded on the belief that in life everyone deserves the chance for opportunity. Research shows that diet and exercise promote a balanced well-being, resulting in positive life achievements.

What is Lazarex Cancer Foundation?
Lazarex Cancer Foundation supports end stage cancer patients and the cancer community by providing assistance with costs for clinical trial participation, navigation through clinical trial options, and community outreach and education. Lazarex provides resources for cancer patients who’ve been told they have no other options, but who are not yet done with their journey in life and refuse to give up now. We believe that together we can build a bridge to hope, dignity and life for cancer patients and their families.
