Where else can you run past vineyards and fruit orchards with vistas of a magnificent 135 kilometer long lake surrounded by mountains, and your finish area situated 21.1 km below in clear view? And the reward at the end is Waterfront Park and beach, filled with music, locally grown foods and unique, premium wines poured by vintners from a dynamic, emerging wine region.

This race starts at the Vibrant Vine and its colorful tasting room complete with its 60’s music and Haight Ashbury themed décor and wine labels. The first 9.7 km of the course meanders through farms, vineyards, fruit orchards, fields and homes perched on a bench above the lake and the City of Kelowna. The relay transition area is at kilometer 12.5 on Cosorso Rd.

The final 6.4 km follow along the lake, eventually passing through City Park for the grand finish next to Waterfront Park and the Delta Grand Resort. A fun-filled Wine & Music Festival in the park await the finishers as they gather to celebrate this magnificent journey and collect their rewards and awards in the park. Relax on the beach, enjoy the views, and explore the eclectic offerings of downtown Kelowna.

The course starts at 1,539 feet elevation, eventually climbs to 1,653 ft. and then drops to a finishing elevation of 1,116 feet. The total elevation change is 536 feet with a net loss of 422 feet, with anticipation of a relatively fast and scenic course! The views are breathtaking. Enjoy!

Time Limit

To enter the half marathon you must be able to finish the course in 3 hours and 30 minutes and keep a 16:00/mile pace or better. Casual walkers are not permitted in the half marathon due to this time limit. If you cannot keep the required pace on course, you will not be guaranteed course supervision by law enforcement and volunteers. Transportation to the finish area for non-finishers without medical problems will be provided via the SAG vehicle.

In the event you cannot finish the race, or fall behind the 16 min/mile pace, please make your way to the nearest aid station and ask for SAG assistance. The SAG vehicle will be following the final runner/walker and pick up at each aid station.


Aid Stations

Seven aid stations and one wine stop will be placed on-course between the start and finish areas. Various non-profits, school teams and other groups host these stations. They are placed on-course at key locations and intervals approximately 1.5 miles apart.

Water will be offered at each aid station and GU Hydration Drink (Lemon lime flavor) will be provided at every other aid station. GU Energy Gels (Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, and Salted Watermelon flavors) will be distributed at Aid Station #4. Please discard wrappers in trash receptacles at aid stations, or put them in your pocket, not alongside the road.

Please show your appreciation to volunteers as you pass each aid station and obey the law officers and course monitors who are working hard to keep you safe and happy.


Post-Race Refueling Tent

After completing your 21.1km journey through wine country and receiving your finisher’s medal, you’ll pass through the Refueling Tent where you’ll be treated to a variety of post-race food and other beverages designed to help your body start the recovery process immediately.

Make sure you are hydrated, stabilized, and have food in your stomach before proceeding the Wine & Music Festival. If you are feeling ill or are experiencing any pain, please visit the medical tent next to the finish line.
